The sun is setting and in the process it sends thousands of dissapointed ruby rays that shine their way into my heart...the mirror walls reflect them contributing three times the pain as my soul dances Delibes's Waltz from Copelia. This is my time of practice and I feel like an apprentice performing his very own silly Developpe. I stand on pointe and relinquish the pain...I'm not allowed to scream, to cry, to even back away and I only can... not can, but want to dance on the verge of death. I raise my leg and strech, a few tears escape from the corner of my eye as I remember...the pirouettes, the arabesques and him holding me with strong and gentle hands as we flew across the stage entranced in our Pas de Deux. Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake resounds lightly in my ears as I feel like Odette and Odile in one strugling little girl...can that even be possible? I mean perfect love is born from love above one's self combined with love above life and that I do feel...
...Click...the door opened and in came him with a troubled face. One, two, three steps..it seems i can't refrain from counting his steps so I won't think about what he has to say. He was cold to me and distant...I will have none of that anymore but still I can't think about it, not now.
"Music, please!" I shout and the pianist starts playing the Waltz of the Flowers from the Nutcracker ballet. Desparation, passion and pain overwhelm me as I dance away from him. Frenetic prouettes and strong jumps make me feel releaved that I will not hear him say it, but then...two firm yet gentle hands stop me in my tracks and I'm forced to look at him, he looks back, opal blue meets emerald green and...
"Odote inochi no Pas de Deux?" he says.
"What?" I look at his kneeled form in awe.
"Would you like to dance life's Pas de Deux...with me???" and shows me a delicate golden ring
In the background Lake in the morning from Swan Lake beggins to play...a sign??? Odette's and Siegfried's Pas de Deux...is that what we are? No we are more, we're love in it's purest form, incomprehensible love.
"Yes!" I say and we start our best Pas de Deux since forever, our closest and love filled dance.
